How do your Children Watch Less TV
How many times have you tried your children to spend less time in front of the television screen? Certainly more than you wanted. New research suggests a simple solution for your children watch less television: set firm rules and not compromise.
In a study of television viewing habits of 7415 children between 9 and 15 years-including watching TV and playing video games, researchers concluded that children who strongly agreed with the statement “My parents have rules about how long I can watch TV “were significantly less likely to exceed recommended limits, unlike the children who had never set limits.
However, less than half of parents surveyed confessed to having 5685 rules for their children in this regard, and less than half the children of these parents reported that they understood clearly the amount of television your parents considered too.
In general, the study published in the July issue of Pediatrics found that 1 in 4 children watched too much television, surpassing the recommendation of the American Academy of Pediatrics (APP) of no more than two hours of quality content per child daily more than two years (children under that age should not watch any television or educational DVD).
TV consumption of great interest to pediatricians, especially the passive nature of this “activity”, according to the APP is advisable to do the following exercise: “The next time your child watches TV instead of looking at the screen look at it and ask What are you doing?, or rather what is not being done? Instead of playing outdoors, run, play or do homework and spend hours sitting mesmerized by television. Children learn best in the context of relationships and meaningful interactions with people they respect. “
